Where can I get the latest version of the kiosk?

If you are a Cloud/EIOBoard-Hosted Organization, you can download the latest version of the kiosk here:

https://www.eioboard.com/downloads/latest/EIOBoardKioskPC.exe

 

If you host your own server, make to get the version of the kiosk matching your server:

https://www.eioboard.com/Hosted-Option/Customer-Hosted-Downloads-and-Documents.aspx

Generally it will be the link in this format: https://www.eioboard.com/downloads/releases/10.3.50/EIOBoardKioskPC10350.exe -with the numbers for your version number

 

Do I have to uninstall the old version first?

In most circumstances you can just run the installer for the new version in-place and it should upgrade your kiosk without any issues!

Note: There are a few jumps in versions with special circumstances to be aware of:

-The 10.3.47 update did have a mandatory update for the DYMO drivers, so if you use the DYMO label printers it is recommended to uninstall the old version first then install the new version with the new drivers if you are upgrading from pre-10.3.47 to 10.3.47+

-The .NET version of the kiosk switched from 4.6 to 4.8 with version 10.1.10, so if your kiosk is on Windows 7 or otherwise can't install .NET 4.8, the latest version you install is 10.1.5, which can be found here: https://downloads.eioboard.com/Releases/10.1.5/


What if the application doesn't list the Dymo Printer after upgrading?

With version 10.3.47 there was a mandatory update for DYMO drivers, so if you use the DYMO label printers it is recommended to uninstall the old version first then install the new version with the new drivers if you are upgrading from pre-10.3.47 to 10.3.47+

If the DYMO printers still don't show up after the update from doing the upgrade as a fresh install

Uninstall the Dymo Printer from Device Manager or delete it from Print Management.

  1. Open Start and select "Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners"
  2. Under "Related settings", select "Print Server Properties"
  3. Select the "Drivers" tab
  4. In the list of installed drivers, select the printer driver and click "Remove"
  5. Select "Remove driver and driver package", and click Ok
  6. If you get a confirmation prompt to "Remove Driver Package", click "Delete". If it doesn't let you because the driver is in use, uninstall both the Kiosk and DYMO Labelwriter v8 software from 'Apps & Features' if they are still on the kiosk.

Will the upgrade keep my settings?

All your settings will be saved in the registry, so you shouldn't lose anything even if you do have to reinstall for the upgrade.

If you want to be extra safe however, you can backup your setting by exporting the registry for them, which can be found here:

 Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Savance\EIOBoardKiosk
