Driver Install issue on Windows Embedded device
Posted by Jacob Fairbairn on 18 April 2013 03:06 PM

Error:

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

Communications Port

The system cannot find the file specified.

If you receive the error above, you are trying to install the wrong AK0 driver on your Windows Embedded device. To fix this, follow the steps below:

  1. Remove the older driver (INF file). Look for /rfidcdc.inf/ in Windows\INF directory. Depending on it the install, it may be called /oemXX.inf/ instead. There might be multiple oemXX.inf files, so try searching file contents for “rfidcdc” or “RF IDeas”.

  2. If a device is displayed in the device manager tree, delete that device.

  3. Download the new driver from here: http://www.eioboard.com/downloads/drivers/rfidcdc20120823usbser32.zip

  4. Then install the driver: either by connecting the device and pointing to the /rfidcdc.inf/ when it asks for the driver, or use the device manager to “Add legacy hardware”.
