How do I access EIOBoard on a Mobile Device?

To access EIOBoard on your phone while on the network:

From a mobile device (will automatically redirect):
http://YourServerNameOrIP
From a standard browser (to test it out):
http://YourServerNameOrIP/Mobile

To access EIOBoard from outside your office you will need to do the following:

  1. First find out if your organization has a static IP.  Even if they don’t, you’re not completely out of luck.  There are services like dyndns.org that let you pick a name like blueridgeemc.servehttp.com and run a software program one of the systems on your network to update your external address.  If you have a static IP, you could still use a service like dyndns.org or try to get your own sub-domain – eioboard.blueridgeemc.com for example.  Either way, once you know the name or the IP that hits your internal office, that is what you are going to put into your mobile device.  
  2. On your network side, you have to port forward port 80 to the server that you set up with EIOBoard.  There should be help documents for your router to accomplish this task.  If you already have an Extranet web server internally, you’ll need to create a virtual directory and point it to the EIOBoard directory (and make the default page index.asp).

Note: If you are using a BlackBerry device there are a couple other things you should be aware of. 

  1. Make sure JavaScript is enabled.  (This is actually the case for any mobile device.)  Read more here: "Configure the BlackBerry for EIOBoard Mobile" .
  2. Customers have reported that the BlackBerry has issues with port redirection.  This means that you may not be able to access the EIOBoard Mobile webpage unless the site is running on port 80 in IIS.
