Customizing Kiosk Touch Settings

In order to customize touch settings on the Kiosk, you must first follow the instructions in the following article:

You can fine-tune all or some of the touch settings. For example, you can have a combination of optimized and default settings.

Note   Because Touch settings is a group of settings, you can't determine whether it is on by opening Touch settings in Origami Experience. However, you can look at the individual settings when you are working in Windows, such as the taskbar and the scroll bar, to see whether the Touch settings are in effect.

To customize your touch settings
  1. On the Home page, tap Programs.

  2. Tap Tools.

  3. Tap Touch Settings.

  4. Tap Customize touch settings.

  5. Select the settings that you want to change.

  6. Note   You will be asked to log off and log on again when you change a touch setting that requires this step. If you choose to log off now, you will be logged off of Windows and asked to log on again.

To open items by single-tapping, touching, or clicking them
  1. On the Home page, tap Programs.

  2. Tap Tools.

  3. Tap Touch Settings.

  4. Tap Customize touch settings.

  5. Next to Opening items, tap Optimized.

To reduce the number of programs on the Start menu
  1. On the Home page, tap Programs.

  2. Tap Tools.

  3. Tap Touch Settings.

  4. Tap Customize touch settings.

  5. Next to Start menu, tap Optimized.

To optimize Internet Explorer for browsing on a small screen
  1. On the Home page, tap Programs.

  2. Tap Tools.

  3. Tap Touch Settings.

  4. Tap Customize touch settings.

  5. Next to Internet Explorer, tap Optimized.

To add a button on the taskbar to show or hide the touch pointer
  1. On the Home page, tap Programs.

  2. Tap Tools.

  3. Tap Touch Settings.

  4. Tap Customize touch settings.

  5. Next to Touch pointer, tap Optimized.

To place the Tablet PC Input Panel icon on the taskbar
  1. On the Home page, tap Programs.

  2. Tap Tools.

  3. Tap Touch Settings.

  4. Tap Customize touch settings.

  5. Next to Touch pointer, tap Optimized.

  6. Note   This procedure also hides the Tablet PC Input Panel tab so it is only accessible from the taskbar.

To widen scroll bars
  1. On the Home page, tap Programs.

  2. Tap Tools.

  3. Tap Touch Settings.

  4. Tap Customize touch settings.

  5. Next to Scroll bars, tap Optimized.

To increase the size of the title bar and the taskbar
  1. On the Home page, tap Programs.

  2. Tap Tools.

  3. Tap Touch Settings.

  4. Tap Customize touch settings.

  5. Next to Title bar and taskbar, tap Optimized.

To resize the taskbar in Windows
  1. Right-click the taskbar, and then clear the check mark next to Lock the Taskbar.

  2. Point to the edge of the taskbar until the pointer changes to a double-headed arrow, and then drag the border up or down.

 

 

 

In addition to changing the touch settings in Origami Experience, you can also change them in other locations in Windows.

Internet Explorer

In Internet Explorer, right-click the Information bar, and then tap Use Large Icons.

Right-click the Information bar, and then clear the Status Bar check box.

Right-click the Information bar, tap Customize Command Bar, and then verify that Show Only Icons is selected.

Right-click the Information bar, tap Customize Command Bar, and then tap Add or Remove Commands. Under Current toolbar buttons, remove all of the toolbar buttons except for: Home, Panning Hand, Print, Tools, Page, and Help.

Start menu

In Control Panel, tap Appearance and Personalization, and then under Taskbar and Start Menu, tap Customize the Start menu.

Scroll bars

In Control Panel, tap Appearance and Personalization, tap Personalization, tap Window Color and Appearance, and then tap Advanced. Under Item, tap Scrollbar.

Title bar and taskbar

In Control Panel, tap Appearance and Personalization, tap Personalization, tap Windows Color and Appearance, and then tap Advanced. Under Item, tap Active Title Bar and Inactive Title Bar to adjust the size of the title bar.

Opening items

In Control Panel, tap Mobile PC, tap Pen and Input Devices, and then tap the Pen Options tab.

Tablet PC Input Panel

In Control Panel, tap Mobile PC, tap Tablet PC Settings, and then tap the Other tab. Under Tablet PC Input Panel options, tap Go to Input Panel Settings.

Touch pointer

Right-click the taskbar, tap Toolbars, and then tap Tablet PC Input Panel.
