What do I do if my Server installation errors "Transaction log is full"?

This knowledgebase article pertains to the following error:

 

SQL Error

"The transaction log for database 'SolutionSavant' is full. to find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases"

 

If you receive this error during the installation of your Server, there are a couple possibilities as to what is going wrong:

 

  1. Backups are not working, so the log is never being emptied.
  2. The log is fixed and can't autogrow.
  3. The log is set to autoresize, but there is not enough space on the drive the log is on.

 

Try seeing if there is little to no space available on this drive. If this is the case, you will want to either use a drive with more space, or you will want to free at least a couple Gigabytes of space. If the error still persists, please contact our support for assistance.
