Running the Kiosk on a Second Monitor

If you have a PC that has the EIOBoard Kiosk software installed on it and you want to run the Kiosk on a second monitor, you have a few ways of doing this. This is very handy if you have a large monitor on display for your Kiosk (especially at a Receptionist Desk), and you want to control the monitor with a connection to a PC in another location.

Changing the Main Display

The EIOBoard Kiosk will automatically open up in the main display, which would be your first monitor by default. You can switch the main display so that the Kiosk runs on the second monitor, and the PC's monitor can still be used for other things. Here are the steps to switch the main display:

Right click on your desktop (on either screen).
Click on Screen Resolution.
A window will pop up, showing your two current screens. The screen with a “1” is your main display, and the screen with a “2” is your second monitor. Next to Display, select the number 2 option (your second monitor) from the drop-down menu.
Below the drop-down menus, check the box that says Make this my main display.
Once you hit “OK” or “Apply”, your main display will switch to the second monitor. Now the Kiosk will open up on the second screen.
If you want to keep the taskbar and icons on the first screen like they were before, you may have to manually drag them over. To drag the taskbar, make sure it is unlocked (right click on the taskbar and uncheck Lock the taskbar).

Switching the Graphics Options

This method has a similar result as the last method. By switching the graphics options, you are basically switching the first and second monitor. Again in this case, you can continue to use the PC while the Kiosk is running on the second monitor: Here are the steps to switch the graphics options:

Right click on your desktop (on either screen).
Go to: Graphics Options > Output To > Extended Desktop > Monitor + Built-in Display.
You have now switched screens so that the Kiosk will run on the second monitor.
Again, you will have to manually drag over icons and the taskbar if you would like them to be on the first monitor.

Duplicate the First Monitor OR View the Second Monitor Only

Using the same simple method, you can easily switch which monitor is being viewed. You can duplicate your PC’s screen so that the second monitor displays exactly what the PC displays. You can also set it so that the PC screen displays nothing and the second monitor displays what your PC would display, if that is what is needed. Here is how to choose between these two:

Press Windows () + P.
You can now flip through 4 options. The 2 options that would fit what you want here are described in the two next steps.
Duplicate: This will display the same image on both monitors.
Projector Only: This will display the image that is normally seen on the PC onto the second monitor. The PC monitor will then become blank.
You can now run the kiosk on the second monitor just as you would have on the first.
