Apply a Payment Made in Advance

In some cases, a customer will pay in advance for some purchase. This article will show you how to apply a pre-payment for that customer.

 

  1. Go to Receive Money.
  2. Search for the invoice for which the customer is paying in advance.
  3. Click on the "..." button next to the CreditApplied column.
  4. Apply the amount the customer paid as credit and then save. Click Here for more details on how to apply customer credit.
  5. Back in the Receive Money screen, enter in "0" in the Amount text box.
  6. Check the box for the invoice's row in the bottom grid. If the row is red, that is okay. This simply means that the invoice hasn't been fully paid yet.
  7. Click on Post.
  8. When the Under Payment screen pops up, simply select the Ledger Account you wish to use and click OK.

 

You have now successfully used Customer Credit to apply a payment in advance!
