Once the Savance Enterprise server installation has been completed, the client application can be installed on PC's so that users can connect. This article walks you through the setup step-by-step.
- The Savance Enterprise application installer is accessible from the server over a shared network folder. The network path to the folder would be \\<your-server-name-or-ip>\OSSetup. Type the network path within Windows Explorer to display the client application's installer.
- The installation file is named SavanceEnterpriseExtractor.exe. Right-click on the file and choose the "Run as administrator" option.
- The Installation Wizard screen will appear. It is strongly recommended that you exit all Windows programs before running this setup program, so close any that are running and hit the Next button.
- On the User Information screen, key in the user's full name and your organization name, and then hit Next.
- On the Destination Folder screen, optionally choose a different target directory to install to or to not have a desktop icon automatically created. The defaults are typically fine. Hit Next to continue.
- On the Select Installation Type screen, the Complete option is selected by default. Leave this as-is, and hit the Next button.
- On the Installation Configuration screen, type in the name or IP address of your Savance Enterprise server and hit the Next button.
- Now you are ready to install the application. Hit Next to proceed.
- The Savance Enterprise installer will display the progress of the installation. Once it finishes, the screen will display Completed, and you will be able to hit the Close button to exit the installer.
- You are now ready to launch the Savance Enterprise application using the shortcut that was created in either the Start Menu or on your Desktop. Once you do so, you should receive the message about being required to configure the database connection settings before running the application. Go ahead and click OK to do so.
- The Savance Enterprise Settings screen will now be displayed. The Database Server, Security Server, Security Server Port, and Database Name should already contain the correct information, and does not typically need to be changed. The User ID and Password fields will most likely need to be changed. These are the credentials for the database server. Key in the appropriate information and hit OK.
- You must restart the program for these server settings to take effect. Go ahead and hit Yes. Savance Enterprise will automatically be closed. Now launch the application from the Start Menu or Desktop once again.
- If all the Savance Enterprise server settings were keyed in correctly, the Savance Enterprise Login screen should be displayed. Type in your User Name and Password. Place a checkmark next to "Remember my username and password on this computer" if that is desired. Hit OK, and you will be logged into the Savance Enterprise application.
