Controlling IIS Logging
Posted by Kevin Merta on 18 September 2012 04:27 PM

The IIS logs can fill up the hard drive.  IIS settings can be tweaked to control logging.  You can move the log to another drive or turn off logging all together.

  1. In Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, you can configure logging at the virtual directory level, web site level, and web server level.  Choose which level of logging you would like to configure in the Connections pane.  Then double click Logging in the middle pane.

  1. On the Logging screen, you can change the path of the log file to another hard drive.  You can also choose ‘Disable’ in the Actions pane to completely turn logging off.  You can also select the log file rollover method.
