Overview

The Savance Enterprise server applications and services should start by themselves, but sometimes they do not.  Below is a list of what should be running on the Savance Enterprise server, depending on the features you use.

Savance Server

This is the main Savance Enterprise Server Service and is required to run all aspects of the Savance Enterprise system.  This is a true Windows service and will start automatically.  You should not have to start this, but if you receive a Licensing Error when trying to start the Savance Enterprise Application, you should check to make sure that this service is running properly.  Below is the icon that should be located in the system tray.  Also here is an image of how to check if the service is running.  Right click on the system tray icon and if 'Start Service' is grayed out that means it is running.

Business System Savant

This application is only used for our Array Integration customers.  It imports PO's and Inventory from Array.  Orders are imported from the Savance Server service mentioned above.  This is an application and is set to auto-start in the Startup folder of Windows.  If this is not running properly, there is usually an error message onscreen.  Below is the icon in the system tray, and if it is displayed here, it should be running.

IIS/Webservice

Internet Information Services (IIS) is the Microsoft web publishing service that is used to host the Savance Enterprise Webstore along with the webservice which is used for the HandHelds to communicate to the Savance Enterprise Database.  If you use either of these products then you need to make sure that it is running.  Below is how you would do that.

This is how you launch IIS.

This is how you check to make sure the website is running.  In this example it is the default website.  If 'Start' is grayed out then it is running.  The webservice is running if the website is running.

SQL Server

SQL Server is the Business database that is used for OrderSavant.  If SQL Server is not running and your particular instance is not running then Savance Enterprise will not work.  This is a true Windows service and will start automatically.  Below is how to check to make sure it is running.

How to launch the Configuration Manager.

This is how to see if it is running or not.  If not, you can click on the play button at the top to start the SQL Service.
