There are several different ways to hide inventory from OrderSavant Web. Inventory can be hidden based on the manufacturer, part type, stock status, and on an individual item basis. This article describes these different methods and how they are managed. The reason for the hide features is because you might have inventory you want available in the OrderSavant Application, possibly to compare descriptions and prices, which you do not normally stock or sell and you would not want web customers trying to purchase items which would end up costing you more to sell than you would make up for in profit. Each manufacturer in OrderSavant has a setting which can hide it from OrderSavant Web. If a manufacturer is hidden on the web it means that any inventory items belonging to that manufacturer will be hidden on the web. One advantage of this feature is if you suddenly stopped carrying any inventory from a certain manufacturer. Rather than have to remove all the inventory and change the product menu items in OrderSavant Web you can just set the hide setting for the manufacturer. This also makes it easy to quickly offer these items again by just changing the setting back. You can change the setting to hide a manufacturer using either the OrderSavant Application or OrderSavant Web. Using the OrderSavant Application (and logging in with a user account having the “OS App - Menu - Purchasing - Manage Manufacturers” security right) go to the “Purchasing” menu and select “Manage Manufacturers”. Next search for the manufacturer you want to hide and either double click it or select it and click the “Edit” button. On the “Manufacturer Management” screen check “Do not show items from this Manufacturer on the Web” and click “Save”. To show items from this manufacturer again just remove the check for this setting. This setting can also be changed by logging into OrderSavant Web as a user with the “OS Web - Manage Manufacturers” security right, clicking the “ADMIN” link followed by clicking the “Manage Manufacturers” link, clicking the edit icon for the desired manufacturer, setting the “Hide on Web” setting, and clicking the “Update” button. There are 5 different part types for OrderSavant inventory which are “S - Normal Inventory Item”, “P - Item from Price Update”, “N - Modal”, “A - Alternate”, and “T - Temp”. Every inventory item in OrderSavant is associated with one (and only one) of these part types. There is a table in OrderSavant which determines whether or not the items of each type are displayed in OrderSavant Web. Customers may want to hide alternate or temporary items from web customers which can be accomplished by changing the settings in this table. At this time we do not have an editor to change these settings and we strongly recommend having someone from Savance change these settings. Using SQL Management Studio the “PartTypeDisplaySettings” table will need to be updated with the desired setting. If the “Web” column is set to “1” then items matching that type will be displayed in OrderSavant Web and if it is set to “0” they will not be displayed. Building on the settings to hide specific part types in OrderSavant Web, there is also a setting that can hide non-stock items for each part type in the web. You may want to hide non-stock items on the web to prevent long lead times with web orders or to prevent web customers from purchasing small quantities of items that will cost you more in time to purchase from an outside vendor than you will make in profit from the order. As there is not an editor for the part type display settings we strongly recommend having someone from Savance configure these settings. Using SQL Management Studio the “PartTypeDisplaySettings” table will need to be updated with the desired setting. If the “DisplayNonStockOnWeb” column is set to “0” then non-stock items matching that part type will not be displayed in OrderSavant Web and if it is set to “1” (and the “Web” setting for that part type is also set to “1”) then both stock and non-stock items will be displayed. The last way to hide items from OrderSavant Web is to change a setting for a specific inventory item. This setting can be changed by logging into the OrderSavant Application as a user with the “OS App - Menu - Inventory - Inventory Management - Edit” security right. Under the “Inventory” menu expand “Inventory Management” and select “Manage Inventory”. Search for the desired item and double click it on select it and click “Edit”. This will open the “Inventory Management” window. You can also get to this window by right clicking an item on a quote / order and select “Edit/Create Part Number in BS”. Change the “Do not show this item on the Web” setting as desired and click the “Save” button. Note that just because a specific inventory item is configured to show in OrderSavant Web it still may not show if the corresponding manufacturer, part type, or stock status is hidden.
